“I was 26 when I created the wrap dress and I am thrilled to be celebrating it now with this exhibition” states von Furstenberg.
From tomorrow January the 11th until April 1st, Diane von Furstenberg will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress though an exhibition titled “Journey of a Dress” exhibition in Los Angeles. Although the exhibition carries the same title as previous DVF retrospectives that traveled to Moscow back in 2009 and later to China in 2011, the designer is re-approaching the show for this latest stateside presentation. The Journey of a Dress will be staged at the Wilshire May Company building, right next to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art campus.
Vintage and contemporary wrap-dress designs and portraits of the designer by Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Francesco Clemente, Helmut Newton and Annie Leibovitz will be included in the exhibit, among others.
The kick-off party planned for tonight, January 10th. hosted by von Furstenberg herself.
