Herbarium Tropicalis, a tropical herbarium. The Rochas Resort 2017 collection is the memory of an exotic flower, the souvenir of a voyage printed on clothes and accessories as if they were the pages of a newspaper.
Prints of palm leaves, orchids, hibiscus, jasmine and wild geraniums. An ideal jungle cut out against a backdrop of sky blue, lime yellow and night black. It is infused with the exotic charm of holidays, a lightness that passes from the drawing to the material, with a macramé of parrots and poplin inlaid with sinuous flowers.
The relaxing atmosphere becomes a line, an attitude, a surrender. Dropped shoulders, bare backs, bows and drapes in the Rochas tradition become soft and almost liquid, melting over the figure in a more abstract and contemporary look.
The freshness of poplin shines with immaculate white. The double chiffons create the illusion of prints as if one were entering a jungle drawing. Reminiscent of the marine style, the classic lines are reinvented in a play of sequins as if the setting sun were there to set them alight.
The accessories wind up this exotic story and urban ensemble. The ballerina shoes are decorated with embroidered orchids, the sandals with leaves of earthly paradises and the slippers scarabs of jade and beads. This is the new, unexpected and inestimably precious Rochas: a grammar of the imagination that expresses the punctuation of a nonchalant modern elegance.
