Ready, Set, Go..! Hunger Magazine has created this fun-loving fashion film for Chanel Cruise, to coincide with the launch of their latest issue, Right Way Up.
Written and directed by Hunger Creative Director Vicky Lawton, it stars model Charlotte Free, shot by Rankin as one of eight exclusive magazine covers. Karl Lagerfeld’s 2016 Chanel Cruise collection was inspired by the realm of Korean fashion, exploring the K-Pop phenomenon and the explosion of colour that comes with it. Vicky takes this to the next level, creating a homage to Korean and Japanese game shows plus a hint of Manga.
Consisting of an obstacle course that Charlotte is challenged to complete, she has to navigate her way through neon tunnels, dodge swinging balls and jump through block walls. Vicky Lawton: “I wanted to create a highly visual film, full of colour and energy to match Charlotte’s personality. The obstacle course brought pace and action and the edit came together with video game style graphics, which keeps the whole aesthetic fun and youthful. Any excuse for a glitter canon, really!”
With her sense of adventure, Charlotte took to the task with glee, ease and a smile on her face. A lot of fun to create, shoot and edit, the film perfectly embodies the youthful energy of Chanel Cruise’s collection.
It also makes us nostalgic for misspent youth taking on the challenges that Atari, NES and Sega Mega Drives threw at us. Let’s Play!
