LOVING CARVEN

For the Summer 2014 ‘introduction’ collection, the Carven woman gets inspired by Nina Simone’s allure, at the dawn of the 70s. An amused city-dweller with a wild elegance and a sophisticated tension. Her allure is at the crossroads of influences from Africa and Europe, as in the studio photographs of Malick Sidibé. The zenithal light of the summer days lets erupt the bright colors of her wardrobe: cactus and kiwi greens, hibiscus pink, banana yellow, papaya orange and cacao light brown. All associated in a scorching tropical print. Fabrics get mixed in a happy interbreeding: zigzag jacquard, Prince of Wales linen, and raffia tweed, with straw and cotton gazar.
This season, the Carven woman electrifies her silhouette with modern volumes. Adorned with creole jewels and opaque mask-sunglasses, she moves in the clammy heat wearing light sandals with banana motifs done in collaboration with Ancient Greek Sandals.
