Fashion loves art and art loves fashion. A connection that goes on since ever and the most vibrant and charming thing about the new collections. Those two vital elements of our everyday aesthetics meet again over Spring’s catwalks.
Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel transformed Grand Palais in Paris in a huge gallery, where guests had the chance to walk around and enjoy the enlarged artworks, which Karl had personally designed. Fabrics where used like canvases where colorful strokes where floating in asymmetric dresses. Same goes for Celine, where Phoebe Philo presented her graffiti dresses and coats, in a quite old-school color palette.
Prada on the other side invited artists Miles “El Mac” Gregor, Mesa, Gabriel Specter and Stinkfish, Jeanne Detallante and Pierre Mornet to paint the reversed catwalk with women’s faces. Paintings where printed on coats, dresses and accessories, presenting that way the most “arty” show of the season: “In the heart of the multitude”.
