What does a woman need for summer ? That’s the question Victoria Feldman and Tomas Berzins asked themselves for their SS 2017 Victoria/Tomas collection. They came up with the most compelling response, by selecting several menswear staples, adding feminine touches and turning them into the modern classics the 4-year-old brand is famous for.

Indeed, the duo don’t believe in ephemeral trends. Ever since they met in fashion school in Paris, they have had an ongoing conversation about beauty and modern dressing, the outcome of which are user-friendly pieces that Victoria herself would wear now, and that women would want to keep indefinitely.
The lynchpin of this new wardrobe is the men’s shirt, cut in a wide variety of fabrics, from poplin to denim, through luxurious suede and butter-soft leather. The items’ shapes defy conventions: shoulders are unveiled through circular gathered holes, bold frills run down the sleeves, and a collar is cut in a V shape. Paired with sassy leather miniskirts or denims pants, they draw a thoroughly modern silhouette, one that allows comfort without sacrificing elegance

The Victoria/Tomas woman is no stranger to contradictions, and her strong romantic core can’t hide her rebellious streak. This season, she expresses her unruliness through striking asymetrical skirts with tiered, flat ruffles in various gingham checks, leather or denim skirts that can be left open at various levels thanks to snap buttons running down their fronts, and of course, the brand’s signature removable piercing adorning plain wool sweaters and tops.
The color palette is dominated by the natural hues of a pleasant spring, soothing off-whites, powder blues and pinks, and tender lilac, with the occasional flourish of forest green. Blue and red gingham checks and sailor stripes on cosy knitted dresses or one-shoulder tops have a typically French flair.
Aware of the our era’s unpredictable temperatures, Victoria and Tomas also came up with charming cardigans that tie at the shoulders.

The outerwear is particularly strong, namely a snakeskin-patterned leather trench coat adorned with red and white stripes on the sleeves and tied with a blue belt.
This functional, sensual, elegant and forward-looking collection marks a new step in Victoria/Tomas’ success story. The brand, which was a finalist at the Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival in 2013, is now available at the finest fashion stores, including Colette and Le Bon Marché in Paris, Boon the Shop in Séoul, and Harvey Nichols HK.
