« La toile de Louise » is a way to discover a three-faced artist : tomboy, rebellious woman, freestyle mother. Louise Bourgeois rebuilt herself through her art, reminiscence of her lost childhood. Daughter of upholsterers, her birth was the symbol of parental narcissism. Besides having the firstnames of both her parents, Louise Joséphine Bourgeois wore on her back the hope of her father, who really wanted a boy. Since very young, she dealt with things left unsaid and familial tensions that she wanted to exorcise. « In fact I try to repare everything, my emotions are my demons » said Louise Bourgeois. With decency, the artist gave us very personal, mysterious artworks full of universal codes.
In her new collection FW 15/16, Axelle Migé resumes these questions about femininity in Louise’s work across a huge cloakroom created for this free and ambivalent woman, as sensual as androgynous like a real dandy. This collection combines in an non-temporal way two femininity, a dialogue without a word. « For me the sculpture is the body. My body is the sculpture » Louise Bourgeois.
